The design data produced by our CAD program is up to several GBs in size, and we need to exchange this data continuously with partner companies and allow freelancers to access it. To this end, we operate an FTP server with VPN access. The server is continuously administered by an IT service provider, and a private VPN profile must be created and maintained for each partner. If the partner terminates the collaboration, the profile needs to be removed. The VPN access must be continually monitored to detect any unauthorized access. The partner or staff member must each use the fixed accounts set up for accessing the FTP Server. We notify data recipients via e-mail whenever a new version of the file is available for download on the FTP server. All in all, this form of collaboration is cumbersome, time-consuming, and expensive.
With cloudplan large amounts of data can be synchronized securely and distributed quickly to external recipients. Owing to the built-in transport encryption with the latest security protocols, data synchronization between source and destination is protected from interception. The protected connection is constructed as a direct point-to-point connection between the participants and is always available, even through firewalls and routers. Whenever the (source or destination) files are edited, the changes are instantly and automatically synchronized with all devices that contain this data. Only the modified sections are replaced in the process. The joint processing of documents is therefore possible in near real time. Individual pieces of data can furthermore be made available remotely as read-only or with read/write access without needing to synchronize the entire dataset each time. Remote access blends transparently into the file explorer of the operating system and can be operated intuitively. The underlying intelligence reduces the transported data volume and significantly accelerates data access.
